Ximenia caffra is well documented: reviews of its medicinal potential and phytochemical studies confirm antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of leaf, root and fruit extracts, and the seed oil is characterised for skin/cosmetic use. This supports its wide traditional use for infections, wounds and inflammation. Evidence is preclinical and ethnobotanical.
