Introduction

Calendula arvensis (field marigold) is the wild cousin of pot marigold, an orange-flowered herb used in Mediterranean folk medicine for wounds, skin and inflammation. Studies confirm wound-healing, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity.

Research

An animal study found field marigold extract accelerates wound healing (via TGF-β1 and reduced inflammation), and a comprehensive review documents antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity — mirroring the well-known properties of pot marigold (Calendula officinalis). Human trials are limited.
