Aloe ferox (Cape/bitter aloe) is a tall South-African aloe. Its bitter yellow leaf resin ('Cape aloes') is a powerful stimulant laxative rich in aloin, while the inner leaf gel is soothing like aloe vera and used for the skin. It is also a bitter digestive tonic.صبّار الكاب (Aloe ferox، الصبر المُرّ) صبّارٌ جنوب إفريقيّ طويل. وراتنج ورقه الأصفر المُرّ («صبر الكاب») مليّنٌ منبِّه قويّ غنيّ بالألوين، بينما هُلام الورق الداخلي مُهدِّئ كالصبار (aloe vera) ويُستعمل للجلد. وهو أيضاً مقوٍّ مُرّ هاضم.

Cape aloe is a well-documented commercial medicinal plant: its aloin-rich bitter latex is a recognised stimulant laxative, studies confirm laxative activity of the resin, and whole-leaf/gel extracts show antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity with a generally reassuring toxicity profile at normal use. The bitter resin is a classic strong laxative for constipation and a bitter tonic for the digestion and liver; the inner gel is applied to burns, wounds, and dry or irritated skin, like aloe vera. Also used as a general 'blood-cleansing' tonic in southern Africa.الراتنج المُرّ مليّنٌ قويّ كلاسيكي للإمساك ومقوٍّ مُرّ للهضم والكبد؛ والهُلام الداخلي يُوضَع على الحروق والجروح والجلد الجافّ أو المُتهيِّج، كالصبار. ويُستعمل أيضاً مقوّياً «مُنقّياً للدم» عاماً في جنوب إفريقيا.

Aloes (الصَّبِر) are noted in the classical Prophetic-medicine (Tibb Nabawi) tradition among bitter purgative and remedial plants; a well-known report describes using aloes (ṣabir) for the eyes during iḥrām. Cape aloe is the African species of the same aloe group traditionally valued this way.يُذكَر الصَّبِر في تراث الطبّ النبويّ الكلاسيكي بين النباتات المُسهِّلة المُرّة والعلاجية؛ ووردَ استعمال الصَّبِر للعينين في الإحرام. وصبّار الكاب هو النوع الإفريقي من مجموعة الصَّبِر نفسها المُقدَّرة تقليدياً كذلك.

Cautionتحذيرات
The bitter aloin resin is a strong stimulant laxative — use only short-term (not more than 1–2 weeks): overuse causes cramping, diarrhoea, fluid/potassium loss and a lazy bowel. Avoid it with bowel obstruction, IBD or in pregnancy, and it can add to potassium-lowering or heart medicines. The inner gel is much gentler and mainly for the skin.راتنج الألوين المُرّ مليّنٌ منبِّه قويّ — يُستعمل قصير الأمد فقط (لا أكثر من 1–2 أسبوع): الإفراط يسبّب مغصاً وإسهالاً وفقدان سوائل/بوتاسيوم وكسلاً معوياً. يُتجنَّب مع انسداد الأمعاء أو داء الأمعاء الالتهابي أو في الحمل، وقد يُضاف إلى أدوية خفض البوتاسيوم أو القلب. والهُلام الداخلي أألطف بكثير وللجلد أساساً.

Avoid the stimulant laxative resin in pregnancy — it can stimulate the bowel and uterus; the gel externally is fine.يُتجنَّب راتنج المليّن المنبِّه في الحمل — قد يُنبِّه الأمعاء والرحم؛ والهُلام خارجياً مقبول.
