Sambucus ebulus (dwarf elder, danewort) is a herbaceous relative of elder used traditionally for joint pain, swelling, sinusitis and the skin. Used in European and Middle-Eastern folk medicine for joint pain and swellings, rheumatism and gout, sinusitis and headaches, as a diaphoretic for fevers and a laxative, and applied to bruises, wounds, burns and haemorrhoids.يُستعمل في الطبّ الشعبي الأوروبي والشرق أوسطيّ لألم المفاصل والتورّم والروماتيزم والنقرس والتهاب الجيوب والصداع، ومُعرِّقاً للحمّى ومليّناً، ويُوضَع على الكدمات والجروح والحروق والبواسير.

POTENTIALLY TOXIC: the raw plant and berries contain the lectin ebulin and cyanogenic traces and can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea (do not confuse with true elderberry). Only well-prepared, correctly-dosed forms are used, preferably externally. Keep the berries away from children.
