Martynia annua (cat's claw plant, 'baghnakhi') is a herb named for its hooked, claw-like fruit, used in Indian folk medicine for wounds, sore throat, inflamed skin, epilepsy and insect/scorpion stings. Leaf juice/paste applied to wounds, cuts, inflamed skin, boils and insect and scorpion stings, and used as a gargle for sore throat; taken for epilepsy and given for tuberculosis-type cough in folk practice; a folk wound, throat and 'anti-fit' herb.يُوضَع عصير/عجينة الأوراق على الجروح والقطوع والجلد الملتهب والدمامل ولسعات الحشرات والعقارب، ويُستعمل غرغرة لالتهاب الحلق؛ ويُؤخَذ للصرع ويُعطى لسعال نوع السلّ في الممارسة الشعبية؛ عشبة جروح وحلق و«مضادة للنوبات» شعبية.

Epilepsy is a serious condition needing proper medical treatment; this is at most a traditional adjunct, not a replacement for anticonvulsant medication.
