Serratula tinctoria (saw-wort) is a slender purple-flowered perennial with saw-toothed leaves, historically important as a source of yellow dye ('dyer's saw-wort'). In herbal tradition it is a mild astringent and bitter 'wound herb', taken or applied to help heal wounds, ruptures and internal bleeding.
