Hedychium spicatum (spiked ginger lily, 'shati', kapoor kachari) is an aromatic ginger-family plant whose fragrant rhizome is used in Ayurveda as a warming, carminative, expectorant and stomachic remedy for coughs, asthma, bronchitis, indigestion, nausea and bad breath.
