Orobanche minor (lesser/common broomrape) is a small, non-green parasitic plant that attaches to the roots of clovers and other plants (and can be a crop pest). Orobanche minor, like the broomrape genus generally, contains phenylethanoid glycosides (verbascoside/acteoside) and iridoids with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential, consistent with its minor traditional astringent/sedative use. It is little studied medicinally and is best known as a parasitic weed of clover and other crops. Had minor traditional use, like other broomrapes, as an astringent for diarrhoea and on wounds and as a mild sedative/'nerve' herb; it is chiefly known as a parasitic weed of clover and legume crops rather than as a practical medicine.له استعمالٌ تقليدي طفيف، كسائر الهالوك، قابضاً للإسهال وعلى الجروح ومهدّئاً/عشبة «أعصاب» خفيفة؛ وأشهر ما يكون حشيشةً طفيلية للبِرسيم ومحاصيل البقول لا دواءً عملياً.

Little studied and not standardised, so use only modest amounts if at all. As with all broomrapes, it absorbs substances from its host, so a specimen on a toxic host could carry harmful compounds — identity of parasite and host both matter.
