Ferula ovina is a Central Asian/Iranian species of the Ferula genus — the giant fennels that yield aromatic gum-resins (asafoetida, galbanum). Used in Persian and Central Asian medicine as a warming digestive, carminative and antispasmodic for indigestion, bloating, wind and cramps, as an anthelmintic and antimicrobial, and (like asafoetida) as a pungent spice and folk remedy for colic.يُستعمل في الطبّ الفارسي والآسيوي الأوسط مُدفئاً هاضماً طارداً للريح مضاداً للتقلّص لعسر الهضم والانتفاخ والريح والمغص، وطارداً للديدان ومضاداً للميكروبات، و(كالحلتيت) بهاراً حارّاً وعلاجاً شعبياً للمغص.
