Cajuput oil is rich in 1,8-cineole and must NOT be applied to or near the face, nose or chest of infants and children under about 2 years, nor used by steam inhalation in young children, because cineole-rich oils can trigger laryngospasm, bronchospasm and dangerous breathing difficulty.
