Hippocrepis comosa (horseshoe vetch) is a low, yellow-flowered legume of chalk grassland, named for its horseshoe-shaped seed pods. It has only slight traditional folk use and is chiefly a wild pasture and butterfly-host plant; like other legumes it contains flavonoids with antioxidant activity.حِدوة الفرس (Hippocrepis comosa) بقلٌ منخفض صفراء الزهر في مروج الطباشير، سُمّي لقرون بذوره الشبيهة بحِدوة الفرس. وله استعمالٌ شعبي تقليدي طفيف فقط وهو أساساً نبتة مرعى برّية ومضيف للفراشات؛ وكسائر البقول يحوي فلافونويدات ذات نشاطٍ مضاد للأكسدة.

Hippocrepis comosa is little studied medicinally; as a legume it contains flavonoids and phenolics with antioxidant activity, but there is scant evidence for specific therapeutic uses, and it is primarily of ecological (chalk-grassland, butterfly-host) interest. Some Hippocrepis relatives have been noted for minor cardioactive glycosides, so it is best treated cautiously and not as an internal remedy without knowledge.
