Tragacanth is a well-characterised pharmaceutical and food gum (an approved emulsifier/thickener) that swells in water to form a soothing gel. Used as a soothing demulcent for cough and sore throat, a gentle bulk laxative, and a base for pastes, lozenges and cooling drinks; applied to the skin as an emollient.يُستعمل مُلطِّفاً مُهدِّئاً للسعال والتهاب الحلق، ومليّناً كتلياً لطيفاً، وقاعدةً للمعاجين وأقراص المصّ والمشروبات المُبرِّدة؛ ويُوضَع على الجلد مُطرِّياً.

Cautionتحذيرات
Very safe as food. As a bulk laxative it must be taken with plenty of water to avoid the swelling gum causing throat or gut blockage; take medicines a couple of hours apart, as the gel can slow their absorption. Rare allergy.آمنٌ جداً طعاماً. وكمليّنٍ كتلي يجب تناوله مع ماءٍ وفير لتفادي انسداد الحلق أو الأمعاء بالصمغ المنتفخ؛ وافصِل الأدوية ساعتين لأن الهُلام قد يبطّئ امتصاصها. والتحسّس نادر.
