Eurycoma apiculata is a close relative of the famous 'tongkat ali' (Eurycoma longifolia), a Southeast-Asian root prized as a male vitality and 'strength' tonic and used for fevers and malaria. Eurycoma species are among the best-studied 'tongkat ali' herbs: clinical trials of E. longifolia support benefits for testosterone, male fertility, stress and vitality, and the genus's quassinoids (eurycomanone) have strong antimalarial and anti-inflammatory activity. Cautionتحذيرات
As a hormone-affecting 'vitality' tonic, avoid it in hormone-sensitive conditions (e.g. prostate or breast cancer), in pregnancy and breastfeeding, and take care with diabetes and blood-pressure medicines. Choose reputable products, as tongkat-ali supplements have sometimes been found contaminated with mercury or adulterated.
