Myrrh is one of the best-studied resins: its furanodiene-rich extracts have documented analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects (a pilot human study of a high-furanodiene extract showed analgesic activity), and it has established antimicrobial and antiseptic action underpinning its use in mouthwashes and wound care. A myrrh compound is also part of an approved antischistosomal drug in some countries. It appears widely in classical Arab and Prophetic-medicine (Ṭibb Nabawī) literature and is a valued heritage medicine and incense; specific narrations vary in authenticity, so it is best presented as a treasured heritage aromatic and medicine of the region.المُرّ عطرٌ ودواءٌ شهير في التراث العربي والإسلامي، استُعمل منذ القِدَم بخوراً وعلاجاً. ويرد واسعاً في أدب الطبّ العربي والنبوي، وهو دواءٌ وبخورٌ تراثي نفيس؛ وتتفاوت الروايات المخصوصة في الثبوت، فالأولى عرضه عطراً ودواءً تراثياً نفيساً للمنطقة.

A diluted tincture may be used as a mouth rinse for older children (not swallowed); avoid internal medicinal use.قد تُستعمل صبغة مخفّفة مضمضةً للأطفال الأكبر (لا تُبلَع)؛ ويُتجنَّب الاستعمال الطبي الداخلي.
Cautionتحذيرات
Do not use internally in pregnancy (uterine stimulant). Use cautiously with diabetes medicines (it may lower blood sugar), with blood-thinners, and if you have heart conditions; large internal doses can cause diarrhoea, kidney/heart effects. Best kept to mouth-rinse, topical and modest short-term internal use.لا يُستعمل داخلياً في الحمل (منشّط للرحم). ويُستعمل بحذر مع أدوية السكري (قد يخفض سكر الدم) ومميّعات الدم وعند أمراض القلب؛ والجُرَع الداخلية الكبيرة قد تسبّب إسهالاً وآثاراً كلوية/قلبية. والأفضل قصره على المضمضة والاستعمال الموضعي والداخلي المعتدل القصير.

Do not use medicinally in pregnancy — myrrh is a uterine stimulant/emmenagogue and can be unsafe; avoid internal use.لا يُستعمل طبياً في الحمل — المُرّ منشّطٌ للرحم/مُدرّ للطمث وقد يكون غير آمن؛ ويُتجنَّب الاستعمال الداخلي.
