Albizia lebbeck (siris, 'shirisha') is a large tree whose bark and other parts are a classic Ayurvedic remedy for allergy and asthma ('the antidote tree'). Albizia lebbeck is well studied for allergy and asthma: a standardised extract (with catechin as phytomarker) shows antiallergic activity, its leaf and bark stabilise mast cells, and it suppresses histamine signalling (inhibiting the H1 receptor and histidine-decarboxylase gene).
