Gnaphalium sylvaticum (wood/heath cudweed, now Omalotheca sylvatica) is a small, woolly daisy-family herb used in folk medicine as an astringent — chiefly as a gargle for sore throat, quinsy and mouth inflammation, and internally for diarrhoea. Its tannins and flavonoids give it astringent, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity.القُطَيفة الحرجية (Gnaphalium sylvaticum، وتُسمّى اليوم Omalotheca sylvatica) عشبةٌ صغيرة زغباء من الفصيلة النجمية تُستعمل في الطبّ الشعبي قابضاً — أساساً غرغرةً لالتهاب الحلق والذبحة والتهاب الفم، وداخلياً للإسهال. وتانيناتها وفلافونويداتها تمنحها نشاطاً قابضاً ومضاداً للالتهاب والأكسدة.

Gnaphalium/cudweed herbs are documented for tannin and flavonoid content with astringent, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity, consistent with their traditional use as a throat gargle and antidiarrhoeal. Used mainly as a gargle and mouth rinse for sore throat, quinsy (peritonsillar abscess) and inflamed gums, internally as an astringent for diarrhoea and gut upset, and on wounds and skin as a wash.تُستعمل أساساً غرغرةً ومضمضةً لالتهاب الحلق والذبحة (خرّاج اللوزتين) واللثة الملتهبة، وداخلياً قابضاً للإسهال واضطراب الأمعاء، وعلى الجروح والجلد غسولاً.

Cautionتحذيرات
A gentle astringent herb; its tannins make strong long-term internal use hard on the stomach. As an Asteraceae plant it may cause allergy in daisy/ragweed-sensitive people.
