Eryngium planum (blue eryngo, flat sea holly) is a spiny, blue-tinged umbellifer whose root and herb are used in folk medicine as an expectorant for coughs (including whooping cough), a diuretic and an anti-inflammatory. Root and herb used as an expectorant and antispasmodic for coughs, whooping cough, bronchitis and chest complaints, as a diuretic for urinary and 'stone' complaints and fluid retention, as an anti-inflammatory, and traditionally as a tonic/aphrodisiac and for skin.يُستعمل الجذر والعشبة طارداً للبلغم ومضاداً للتقلّص للسعال والسعال الديكي والتهاب القصبات وشكاوى الصدر ومُدرّاً لشكاوى البول و«الحصى» واحتباس السوائل ومضاداً للالتهاب وتقليدياً مقوّياً/منشّطاً جنسياً وللجلد.
