Ledum palustre (Rhododendron tomentosum, marsh Labrador tea / wild rosemary) is an aromatic bog shrub used traditionally as a cough, joint and skin remedy and insect repellent. POTENTIALLY TOXIC: the essential oil (ledol/palustrol) can cause headache, dizziness, nausea, agitation and, in overdose, delirium and cramps. Use only weak, small, short-term doses under knowledgeable guidance, never the concentrated oil internally, and avoid entirely in pregnancy.
