Podophyllotoxin/podophyllin can cause severe vomiting and diarrhoea, liver and bone-marrow damage, and life-threatening nerve toxicity; poisonings and deaths are documented. Do NOT take internally except under specialist medical supervision. Even topical use can be absorbed and cause systemic poisoning.
